Situated within the La Ronge greenstone belt, the Fork Lake property lies within a gold district that has hosted several past‑producing gold mines. The 6,513‑hectare property includes the high‑grade historic Jasper Gold Mine, which historically produced around 155,000 tons of ore averaging 0.54 oz per ton gold during 1990‑1991. Fork Lake is road‑accessible, located 135 km northeast of La Ronge and approximately 10 km from the Jolu Gold Mill.

The Fork Lake property is located in the La Ronge Greenstone Belt of northern Saskatchewan, a prolific gold district that has hosted numerous past producers. The project includes the former high-grade Jasper Gold Mine, which produced around 155,000 tons of ore averaging 0.54 oz/ton Au (18.5 g/t Au) during 1990–1991. The 100% Wescan-owned property covers 6,513 hectares, is accessible by road 135 kilometers northeast of La Ronge and lies approximately 10 kilometers from the Jolu Gold Mill.
Wescan’s more recent programs have confirmed the potential for significant additional old mineralization:
- 2006–2007 – Drilling and geochemical soil sampling confirmed a high-grade extension of the Jasper structure and outlined 11 new targets. Follow-up drilling in 2007 tested these zones and advanced evaluation of the Jasper Deep Zone.
- 2011 – A further 2,313 metres of drilling in 9 holes targeted areas adjacent to historic mine workings, confirming extensions at depth and testing zones identified as “highly prospective.”
Highlights from 2011 include:
Step out hole JS11-002 which confirmed significant gold mineralization outside of the previously drill tested area at depth, highlighted by a gold mineralized intersection grading 9.11 g/t Au over 1.55 metres. Drill holes JS11-003, 006, and -008 confirmed that significant gold mineralized areas exist adjacent to the old Jasper mine workings, highlighted by a mineralized intersection grading 74.4 g/t Au 1.00 metre in hole JS11-006. Gold intersection highlights are summarized in the table below:

Results to date indicate strong potential for additional high-grade gold mineralization beyond what was historically mined at Jasper, the deposit remains open both at depth and along strike. Future programs are designed to build on these results with the objective of advancing the Fork Lake Project toward a National Instrument 43-101 compliant Mineral Rresource estimate.
