Wescan Commences Drilling At Jasper Gold Mine
April 6, 2005
George Sanders, President of Wescan Goldfields Inc. (“Wescan”) is pleased to report that diamond drilling has commenced at the Jasper Gold Mine on the Company’s 100% owned Fork Lake property. The Fork Lake property is in the La Ronge gold belt in northern Saskatchewan and the Jasper Mine is one of three former gold producers in the belt.
The Jasper Mine was operated by Cameco Corporation (“Cameco”) during 1990-91. The ore zone was accessed by a ramp and mined on three levels to a maximum depth of only 165 metres. Ore was trucked for processing at Cameco’s Star Lake Mill, approximately five kilometres away. The mine produced 155,000 tons at a grade of 0.54 ounces gold per ton. Historic drilling intersected ore values around stoped areas as well as down dip, down plunge and along strike and Wescan’s geologists have confirmed that targets exist beyond the areas of limited mining.
An initial program of a minimum of 1,500 metres of drilling will confirm ore structures immediately adjacent to and below mined stopes. A follow up drill program is planned for after spring break up to test the ore structures further down plunge and along strike.
The drill program is under the geologic supervision of Wayne Murton, P.Eng. who will be the project Qualified Person.
Wescan is a Canadian-based corporation engaged in the acquisition, exploration and development of mineral properties.
